The Star Alliance network is the leading global airline network, with the highest number of member airlines, daily flights, destinations and countries flown to.
Founded on 14 May 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to offer customers convenient worldwide reach and a smoother travel experience. The five founding airlines are Scandinavian Airlines, Thai Airways International, Air Canada, Lufthansa, and United Airlines.
Star Alliance benefits
To make air travel even easier, the member airlines have coordinated their schedules, which often shortens the overall journey time for passengers switching from one Star Alliance airline to another on connecting flights. Moreover, customers receive a boarding pass for onward flights, even if they fly on with a different Star Alliance member.
As members of Star Alliance frequent flyer programs, passengers can redeem mileage accruals across the entire alliance network. So they rise to a higher status essentially faster than they would in any individual frequent flyer program.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Some booking classes might not be eligible for mileage accrual in all programs. Please check the rules for Croatia Airlines flights in your program. Also, please note that the first letter of the fare basis shows the booking class (e.g. TEASY1 – booking class T). If you book your ticket on our website, you will find the fare basis information in the trip summary.

Star Alliance Gold Status allows you to check-in through the Priority check-in counters. With shorter queues checking-in, you can get to the lounge a little sooner.
When you travel with any Star Alliance member airline, you and a guest can escape the crowds and relax in over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, regardless of your class of travel. From 3 May 2021, you and your guest must travel on the same flight.
There's no need to rush out of the lounge anymore. With priority boarding you can enjoy the freedom of boarding at your convenience along with First and Business Class passengers.
As a Gold Status holder you can choose not to travel light. We allow an additional 20 kg (44 pounds) where the weight concept applies, or one additional piece of luggage where the piece concept applies.
Similar to you, your bags get priority treatment and are among the first to be unloaded, which means you can be one of the first in line for a taxi/shuttle bus.
When there aren't any seats available on your preferred flight, we ensure that you sit at the top of the waiting list for another.
Should your meeting overrun and you miss your flight, you can relax whilst member airline staff arrange for you to be on the next available flight home.
With a lower status level in your FFP, you still get additional benefits by the Star Alliance network, the Star Alliance Silver benefits.
Move more smoothly through airport security by utilising exclusive Gold Track priority lanes.
