Croatia Airlines to offer first ever in-flight Wi-Fi with Panasonic Avionics’ Ku-Band connectivity
Zagreb, 3rd April, 2024
Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic Avionics), a world leading provider of in-flight engagement and connectivity (IFEC) solutions, has signed an agreement with Croatia Airlines, to provide Wi-Fi services for the airline’s brand-new Airbus A220 fleet.
The flag carrier of Croatia has committed to outfitting its fleet with Wi-Fi capabilities for the first time ever, through the installation of Panasonic Avionics’ Ku-band satellite connectivity on the airline’s 15 new A220s by 2027. The first aircraft is set to enter service in June 2024.
Passengers aboard Croatia Airlines' A220 aircraft will be able to enjoy high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi, enabling them to stay connected, work, surf the web, or communicate with loved ones using their enabled devices while in-flight. Every seat on the new A220 fleet will also feature USB-A and USB-C ports, alongside convenient smartphone and tablet holders for enhanced passenger convenience.
Croatia Airlines has opted for Panasonic Avionics as its provider of choice due to its Ku-band connectivity solution, fulfilling the airline's requirement for state-of-the-art connectivity. This decision was made to ensure alignment with Airbus’ A220 platform and reaffirms Croatia Airlines’ commitment to delivering exceptional services to passengers.
The Ku-band antenna installed on Croatia Airlines’ new A220 fleet will connect each aircraft with Panasonic Avionics’ global communications network of high speed, high bandwidth satellites, which places capacity where it is most needed to meet the needs of airlines and their passengers.
Hernan Abbes, Vice President of Global Sales, Panasonic Avionics Corporation said: “We are honored that Croatia Airlines has chosen Panasonic Avionics to provide the first ever onboard Wi-Fi services for its fleet. We are confident that it will enhance the airline’s engagement with its passengers and the in-flight experience it offers.”
Jasmin Bajić, CEO at Croatia Airlines said: "We are thrilled to announce the introduction of onboard connectivity for the first time in our thirty-five years history, coinciding with the arrival of the A220 aircraft. This agreement with Panasonic Avionics aligns with our mission to enhance the in-flight passenger experience and deliver top quality connectivity to our valued customers.”
More than 70 leading airlines globally have chosen Panasonic Avionics’ in-flight connectivity services, indicating the industry’s growing demand for more robust and high-speed connectivity solutions.
