First aircraft of Croatia Airlines’ new A220 fleet dressed in new livery
18 June 2024, Zagreb
In the year in which it celebrates its 35th anniversary, Croatia Airlines, Croatia’s flag carrier and a member of Star Alliance, has embarked on the biggest project in the history of the company – the renewal of its entire fleet. In anticipation of the delivery of the first A220 aircraft in July this year, today the refreshed visual identity of Croatia Airlines and its aircraft was presented, and the 30th anniversary of the airline’s inflight magazine, Croatia, was celebrated.
The renewal of the fleet of Croatia’s flag carrier marks the beginning of a new business development cycle, which will be accompanied by a refreshed visual identity, with the help of which the values of Croatia Airlines will continue to be consistently communicated, alongside an even greater orientation towards passengers and target audiences. The airline’s logo redesign and the new look of the aircraft further accentuate the company’s basic messages, which are quality, safety, travel comfort, and hospitality, while the design of the logomark is now brought closer to the design of the tail of the aircraft, which is what makes Croatia Airlines recognisable.
At the presentation of Croatia Airlines’ refreshed visual identity, which marks the beginning of the coming period, and which will enhance the airline’s visibility both on the ground and in the air, Jasmin Bajić, President of the Management Board and CEO of Croatia Airlines, underscored the following:
– The rebranding of Croatia’s flag carrier will increase the company’s visibility and recognition. It also highlights the importance of Croatia’s national identity and the role that Croatia Airlines has in the state of Croatia, while Croatia Airlines remains, according to renowned experts, one of the best brands in world aviation.
Tomislav Mihotić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, pointed out the following:
– Today, we are witnessing a new historic step forward and into a better future for Croatia Airlines, as well as for all of us, who will fly Croatia’s flag carrier as businessmen, tourists and passengers. In the 35 years of its existence and provision of transportation services, Croatia Airlines has been connecting Croatia’s cities with key European destinations, and, in collaboration with partner airlines, the whole world. As such, Croatia Airlines is of immense support for us all.
Slaven Žabo, Commercial Division Director at Croatia Airlines, added the following:
– Our new visual identity communicates with our passengers and the public even more simply and easily. The first impression that Croatia will leave will now be even stronger. Besides flying in new and significantly quieter aircraft, our passengers will have the convenience of a more comfortable passenger cabin featuring wider seats and larger windows, more carry-on baggage space, and high-speed inflight Wi-Fi. This will open up new opportunities, while our inflight magazine, Croatia, will continue to contribute to passenger comfort and our company’s inflight offerings. Congratulations to Croatia, our inflight magazine, on its 30th anniversary!
Croatia Airlines’ inflight magazine, Croatia, has been promoting Croatia and its attractions for 30 years, and often serves as a travel guide and first point of reference for many foreigner guests visiting Croatia and its destinations, as well as for local travellers, to whom it often reveals hidden stories and products that we can all be proud of.
While presenting Croatia Airlines’ refreshed visual identity, Ivana Ivanković, corporate designer at Croatia Airlines and author of the redesign solution, said the following:
– We will all agree that Croatia Airlines is today a recognisable brand in both Europe and the world. The historical flag of the Croatian people is the foundation of Croatia Airlines’ identity. The shapes and colours of the Croatian flag are significantly supported in the image, they’re transformed into a modern and powerful visual constant, while the coat of arms is transformed into a dynamic element. The core of Croatia Airlines’ visual identity is made up of both a logomark and a logotype. The colours that have their origin in the history of Croatia, red and dark blue, are used as primary colours, while the use of secondary colours underscores our south European roots. The new logo, the redesign of our aircraft, and a revamped colour scheme confirm the importance of the Croatian national identity, and the role that Croatia Airlines has in the state of Croatia. The new design ensures enhanced brand visibility and recognition, while the tail of the aircraft is now aligned with the logo itself. Last but not least, both the logomark and logotype are compositionally balanced with Star Alliance’s logotype with the help of a contemporary design solution, in which the squares of the logomark are positioned in such a way that the tail of the aircraft becomes immediately recognisable, which definitely sends a clear message.
By renewing its fleet, which will be featuring a refreshed visual identity, Croatia Airlines is replacing all its existing aircraft with new ones, which is a significant technological step forward, which will introduce greater energy efficiency, and which will reduce fuel consumption by 25% per seat. The new and better quality A220 aircraft, whose seating capacity is 149 and 127 passengers, and the first of which is about to land in Croatia in July this year, will ensure that Croatia Airlines’ response to specific passenger needs is enhanced, and will create the conditions for a more efficient business model. This will, in turn, open up new business opportunities for Croatia Airlines, facilitate the gradual expansion of the airline’s network of flights, and ensure that the service provided is of better quality and that passenger satisfaction is enhanced.
The delivery of the first new A220 aircraft is expected in July this year, the delivery of the second aircraft is expected by the end of 2024, the next six are expected to be delivered in 2025, four in 2026, and three aircraft in 2027. More specifically, Croatia Airlines’ fleet will total 15 new A220 aircraft.
Croatia Airlines’ fleet renewal project is the biggest project in the history of the company, which will facilitate the further development of the company, and the airline’s successful and sustainable operations in the future. Similarly, it confirms the position of Croatia Airlines as a strategically important segment of Croatia’s transport and tourism infrastructure.
